Commissioner Don Garber, Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson & Seattle Sounders owner Adrian Hanauer will be flying in to host a panel session at the prestigious 5th annual Leaders in Football conference, taking place at Chelsea FC on the 10th and 11th October 2012.
The panel will tackle a range of topics, including why they invest in US soccer, the long-term plans and vision for football in the country, and driving growth in a crowded and competitive market.
Commissioner Garber said “Leaders in Football provides a great environment for sharing ideas with executives from other national leagues and I’m really looking forward to participating this year.” He added “Soccer in North America has evolved and grown significantly during the last few years and the timing of the conference provides the opportunity to discuss our progress in front of the top people in world football.”
James Worrall, CEO of Leaders remarked “We are delighted to welcome such a respected figure in world football along with some of the best sports owners in the US to Leaders this year, and really look forward to a fascinating insight into the challenges and progress made by soccer in the US”
Commissioner Garber was appointed in 1999 following a hugely successful 16 years with the NFL, where he left as Managing Director of NFL International. Under his leadership, MLS has undergone a number of significant changes and he has received praise from all areas of the US sports industry for his achievements.
Paulson & Hanauer have both played instrumental roles and have turned their respective clubs into healthy businesses with significant fan followings. They will discuss their main challenges in an extremely competitive US Sports environment and how they see US Soccer in the future.
