'Sources' say Portsmouth takeover to be completed by 11 July

According to an article published Wednesday on arabianbusiness.com, 'sources' close to Sulaiman al-Fahim say that the takeover of Portsmouth will be completed by within two weeks, in time for the AGM of the Portsmouth Football Supporters Club on 11 July.

'He will be in London for the few days before then finalizing things, and so it makes sense to go to this event and meet the fans,' a source said. 'He wants to speak directly with supporters as much as possible. There will be something similar organized in Portsmouth for fans to hear from him directly, probably around that time as well.'

Fahim's spokesman, Ivo Ilic Gabara, put this statement in doubt when he was quoted The Guardian on Thursday saying, "If the transaction is completed by then Sulaiman al-Fahim will be delighted to attend the supporters' assembly. However, if it isn't he will not be able to attend. I hope that you will understand that despite all his enthusiasm for the club, and in particular the supporters, Mr al-Fahim must be mindful of the state of progress of the due diligence and the negotiations."
