Leaders in Football offers a series of unique, interactive workshops that are led by the top figures and innovators in the industry, draw on the expertise of the audience and offer deeper insight into a number of key football topics. Taking place in the Millennium Boxes at Stamford Bridge, they are “invite-only” with no media, agencies or suppliers allowed, and offer an intimate environment away from the main conference platforms for smaller groups of senior executives.

The Challenges of Hosting a Global Sports Event

As global sports events increase in scale and complexity and strive to reach an expanding worldwide audience, the pressures placed on the host venue are changing and growing.

This session brings together representatives of the world’s most famous sports venue, Wembley Stadium and representatives from UEFA and London 2012 to discuss this issue from both a venue and event owner’s perspective.

Wembley has twice hosted the UEFA Champions League Final and was the venue for nine matches of the London 2012 Olympics Football Competition, including both finals.

Delegates will learn how stadiums with ambitions to host major events need to think and plan well beyond their normal event day operations if they are to successfully attract and host such events.

During an interactive session, the panel will share their insights, experiences and lessons learnt in areas such as:
- The scale of the challenge
- The need for flexible and adaptable accommodation, contractual arrangements and operations
- The enhanced demands of security, broadcast, media, sponsors, hospitality and transport
