Leaders in Football, the world's most exclusive football business event, taking place for the second time at Chelsea FC on 7th and 8th October 2009, has announced that Tim Leiweke, President &CEO of AEG and one of the world's true leaders in the professional sports and entertainment industry, will deliver a keynote address to the 1,000 delegates attending.
Now in his fourteenth year with the organization, and recently selected by Sports Business Journal as the Sports Executive of the Year, Leiweke is responsible globally for all divisions of AEG from its partnerships division to its marketing and sports operations. His address to Leaders in Football will focus on how to create, build and manage sports and entertainment properties worldwide.
The man responsible for bringing Beckham to the MLS franchise LA Galaxy, Leiweke oversees a vast sports and entertainment empire with a number of famous venues across the US including the STAPLES Centre (which alone holds five professional sports franchises including the Lakers, Kings, Clippers, Avengers and Sparks) and which was built in a record 18 months under his direction. Under his leadership, AEG have expanded operations overseas with a number of acquisitions and developments including The O2, a 28-acre development located in the eastern part of London which includes a 20,000 seat arena and over 650,000 square feet of leisure and entertainment use.
Leiweke's appointment to the main conference stage at Leaders in Football follows other high profile names such as Jeremy Darroch, CEO of BSkyB, Jack Warner the President of Concacaf and Lord Mawhinney, Chairman of The Football League.
