Leaders in Football, the International Business Summit taking place at Chelsea on 7th and 8th October 2009, is proud to announce that Danny Jordaan, CEO of the South Africa World Cup 2010 organising committee will be speaking at the event.
Jordaan will be discussing the progress made and lessons learnt from hosting the Confederations Cup which has recently reached its climax in South Africa. He will also be updating the 1,000 delegates and international media on South Africa's final preparations for the World Cup next year.
Jordaan is best known for leading South Africa's successful Football World Cup 2010 bid, the first successful one for Africa, but his contribution to sport and politics in South Africa spans many years as a former lecturer, politician and anti-apartheid activist.
Jordaan was elected CEO of the South African Football Association in 1997 and since then has worked tirelessly to promote the sport of football in his country as well as promote the country to the world. He has served FIFA in numerous capacities, including, as a General Co-ordinator for the Youth World Cup (now FIFA U-20 World Cup), 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan. He was also a match commissioner for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and a member of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee.
He currently serves as the CEO of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee and 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup Organising Committee.
Jordaan's presentation comes on the back of a host of other high profile speakers from around the world including Jeremy Darroch, CEO of BSkyB; Jack Warner the President of Concacaf; Andy Roxburgh, Technical Director, UEFA; Sunil Gulati, President, United States Soccer Federation; Lord Triesman, Chairman, The Football Association; Tim Leiweke, President and CEO of AEG and Lord Mawhinney, Chairman of The Football League and Andy Anson, CEO, England's 2018 World Cup Bid.
