Leaders in Football is delighted to announce the League Managers Association as its latest event partner. As part of this relationship, current Barclays Premier League managers Roy Hodgson of Fulham FC and Mick McCarthy of newly promoted Wolves are to join the stellar line-up of high profile speakers at Leaders in Football on the 7th and 8th of October 2009.
The Managers are taking part in the LMA (League Managers Association) sponsored closing session on the 7th, which is designed to give an insight into the pressures and priorities of a manager in the Barclays Premier League. The role of a manager working in this top tier has changed beyond recognition in the last decade and a new hierarchy of back-room staff has been established. How does this work in practice? What are the biggest challenges, and how are they dealt with on a day to day basis? What does the future hold?
Richard Bevan, CEO of the LMA and Howard Wilkinson, Chairman of the LMA, who is in fact the last English Manager to have won a top flight league (with Leeds in 1992), make up the panel of four.
'We are delighted to be involved with Leaders in Football,' explained Bevan, 'it is where the world of football gathers to discuss the challenges and opportunities we face in an ever-changing business landscape. The LMA is at the forefront of promoting the concerns and long-term welfare of football managers within that environment.'
Hodgson and McCarthy's appearance at Leaders in Football follows a number of high profile announcements including Jack Warner, President of Concacaf; Lord Triesman, Chairman of The FA; Sunil Gulati, President of United States Soccer Federation; Lord Mawhinney, Chairman of The Football League; Andy Roxburgh, UEFA Technical Director; Tim Leiweke, President and CEO AEG; Andy Anson, Chief Executive of 2018 FIFA World Cup England and Harold Mayne-Nicholls, President, Chilean FA.
